I think the problem is that when you make someone your everything you basically plant a parasitic seed in your head that tells you that no one will compare to this person and thus anyone else who makes you feel remotely close like this first person is seen as “second best” when in actuality no one can compare to no one because we’re all different; one of each on the planet. So the best we can do is try and psyche ourselves out of that “the one” mentality and realize, too, that we can love someone else with all our might as we did with the first one. It’s a matter of will, heart, and mind.
